It’s cold in Louisville. Single digit windchills and a light coat of snow on the ground. Like 99% of Louisvillians, I plan my comings and goings around winter weather and made sure to run all my errands before the temps dropped, thrilled at the idea I wouldn’t have to venture outside my home all weekend.
When I realized something I needed was stored in my little red barn, in the far back corner of my backyard, I resigned myself to one very quick trip outside. I grabbed my coat, held my breath, and went.
Halfway down the stairs off my back porch, I noticed the tiniest footprints in the snow, one set perfectly framed by the sun/shadow from my fence. My mad dash forgotten, I went back inside to grab my phone and get a picture of what caught my eye.
Little moments, easily missed if I were paying attention to my own discomfort or overly focused on my to do list. Tiny marvels, sitting right at my feet, just waiting to be recognized.
This is what luminous looks like today.
