Earring Tree

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAWhen is the last time you used a cheese grater? Granted, I’m not much of a cook, but the only times I’ve touched our cheese grater in the last 12 years is when I needed to move it to make space for something else. As part of my promise to use-it-or-lose-it, I had to admit our grater fell in the “lose it” category.

Then I remembered a clever jewelry display I’d seen at a craft show. I had some leftover copper spray paint (the kind that leaves a hammered metal-looking finish – wonderful for masking flaws like rust spots or dents). Two quick coats of paint and my grater became an earring tree! Bracelets and short necklaces can hang from the sides, and it’s the perfect size for the top of my small dresser.

No, I couldn’t hang all of my jewelry on this. But it works well for those earrings I wear so often I never really put them away. This would also make a neat addition to a guest room.

And, let’s be honest, it’s just fun.
